Furnishing the Drawing Room

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Jill Tovey and Sarah Kay for their help with research into the fabrics that were used historically to furnish Croome Court. Jill has managed to track down receipts in the Croome archive at the Worcestershire Record Office for green, yellow, crimson and sky blue Genoa damask. It seems that colour was truly embraced in the Court’s furnishing!

It was also interesting to learn from Jill that the Coventry family descended from Mercers (textile traders), so fabric is built into the very foundations of Croome.
